Snake Love Apple Post-Jam Update


Hey snake love applers! Just dropping a small post-jam update to fix various bugs, as well as changing a few things I didn't have time to change during the jam, like the balance of the game.

Controller Support:

Controller support was something I wanted to add during the original jam, but just didn't have the time to do. I'm very happy with how smooth the controls feel while using a game pad.

  • Added controller support with rumble.
  • While using a controller you have 360 degree movement and aiming.
  • Button prompts on screen now match which control scheme you're using.

General Changes:

  • Player speed overall is increased.
  • Speed penalty when holding an apple is decreased.
  • Snake sprites have been improved, with the tail now tapering off at the end.
  • Apple and bird spawning (hopefully) slightly improved.
  • Apples now fall into the room when spawning, instead of just appearing out of nowhere.
  • Birds now fly into the room.
  • Snake can no longer destroy apples as they're thrown.
  • Snake's speed increased every time it is killed.
  • When killing a snake, the timer no longer resets. Instead 12 seconds are added to the timer.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed how the snake tracks it's target. The snake no longer goes crazy when you're on the right side of it.
  • Fixed bug where you could get hardlocked if pausing after dying
  • Fixed being able to throw the apple outside of the playable room if throwing while right next to a wall.
